You may have come across a 404 error on our website before and wondered why. The three most common incidents resulting in a 404 error are:

  • you're trying to share a cinemagraph which is set to Private
  • you recently requested a username change and are unable to sign in
  • you tried sharing a cinemagraph from flixel.com to Facebook

Learn how to trooubleshoot if you see a 404 error on flixel.com or Facebook below.

Privacy Settings

A 404 error will appear on flixel.com if you try to share a private cinemagraph. If your cinemagraph is set to private, only you will be able to view it while signed in to your account on flixel.com. You won't be able to use the embed code or share the URL.

If you want to embed your cinemagraph to a website or share the URL with others, change the privacy setting to shareable or public. Read Managing your Flixel Gallery to learn how to update your privacy settings and more.

Username Change

If a 404 error appears when trying to sign in and you recently requested a username change, you'll have to clear your browser cache and cookies. After clearing your cache and cookies, sign in on flixel.com with your new username.

Sharing on Facebook

To share your cinemagraph on Facebook, we recommend exporting it as an MP4 from Cinemagraph Pro and uploading it in a status update, as described on this page. We prefer uploading cinemagraphs directly to Facebook as opposed to sharing the link on our website to take advantage of Facebook's autoplay and looping features.

If you do decide to share a cinemagraph from flixel.com and a 404 error appears, try fixing the link on Facebook's Sharing Debugger. Enter the cinemagraph URL and select Debug. Scroll down to view the link preview under When and how we last scraped the URL. If the page cannot be found, keep clicking Scrape Again until it appears. Please contact support@flixel.com if you encounter this error.
